I have been partaking in Elegance & Enchantments Creative Challenge, which is 12 months of projects to get in touch with your creative side.  Although I have only participated in the first challenge which was knitting, crocheting, sewing, weaving, embroidery or quilting, (I made some envelope pillows, but didn’t blog about it)  I have really been enjoying it!  It has made me create and try new things that I may have never done before.  This creative challenge is open to anyone, so jump on in and show us your inner creative side!  This months project is all about paper flowers, and that is how my spring wreath came about!

I can’t begin to tell you how I excited I am about my spring wreath!  Maybe it is because I’m ready for the bright vibrant colors of spring and the warmer weather, OR…. it could be that I have new wreath to display and have finally taken down my fall wreath!  I am pretty sure option B is the clear winner here!  As much as I did like my fall wreath, it was definitely time to take down and was making things a little dreary around here.  My spring wreath is just what my front door needed, bright, fun, and Spring-a-licious!

This spring wreath is super easy to create especially the flowers, which I was really surprised!  The flowers only took minutes to make and where really fun to create!

  • tissue paper
  • scissors
  • moss
  • floral wire
  • glue

Spring Wreath Supplies

As you can see I wasn’t on top of things this time and forgot to take a picture of everything before I started making it….

How to make Tissue Paper Flowers:

Take 5 sheets of tissue paper, cut to size.  For the larger flowers, I cut my tissue paper about 7″ x 12″.  The smaller flowers I cut to about 5 1/2″ x 5 1/2″.

Once you have cut your tissue paper to size, place the short side in front of you and fold accordion style in 1″ folds.

Tissue Paper Flowers step 1

Cut both ends of tissue paper into half circles.

Tissue Paper Flowers step 2

Place floral wire in the middle of tissue paper and fold over.  Twist ends to secure.

Tissue Paper Flowers step 3

Spread out the tissue paper and carefully pull up the first layer.  Continue pulling each layer up toward the top until all layers of tissue paper are separated and you have formed the flower.

Ta-Da!  Your tissue paper flower is complete!

Tissue Paper Flowers step 7

I made two large tissue paper flowers, one white and one teal.  Then made 4 smaller sized tissue paper flowers in the same colors, two of each.  Once all my flowers were complete, I secured them onto the twig wreath with the floral wire that the flowers were already connected to.

DIY Tissue Paper Flowers

Once I had all the tissue paper flowers aligned and secured where I wanted them, I then glued the moss in-between the flowers and at the ends with hot glue.

Awesome wreath! I love the moss – gives it a really cool touch. I used tissue paper flowers like this for some wedding decor, they are great!
